ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Inspired by the films of Len Lye and Taku Furukawa, this dynamic hands-on workshop will provide the materials for you to get creative making wonderful abstract animations onto celluloid film. Participants will be introduced to techniques of drawing and painting directly onto the filmstrip in order to create a mesmerising piece of collectively- created moving image, generated without the need for a camera! Following the session, the work will be digitised and shared with all participants.
This workshop is facilitated by artist and educator Lydia Beilby. You can learn more about Lydia’s work at Screen Bandita.
This workshop is suitable for children aged 8 - 13. We ask all young participants to please wear messy clothes or bring an apron, and to be accompanied by a parent or carer throughout the session.

ABOUT THE SEASON
‘Reverie Cineclub: Fairytales From Around The World’ is a family film season which takes place at the Rio Cinema in London from November 9th - 17th, 2024. The season features three World Cinema classics from the Czech Republic, Germany, and USSR that are enriched with colourful dream sequences, dazzling set design, and plenty of humour, romance, and whimsy abound.
