Analogue Adventures For All Ages
As part of our first film season, ‘Reverie Cineclub: Fairytales From Around The World’, we hosted a parent and child direct-animation workshop at the Rio Cinema, led by moving image artist and film educator Lydia Beilby.
Our young participants watched a selection of short films by film-makers such as Len Lye, Norman McLaren, and Margaret Tait to help give them inspiration on what colours, shapes, and techniques they could incorporate in their film. They were given several strips of both new and discarded celluloid film which they could paint over, scratch, and cover in decals.
Here are the final results of their collaborative film!
